U.S. President Donald Trump has given Ukraine less than a week to accept his proposed peace plan widely viewed as favoring Russia—to end the ongoing war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country is facing “one of the most difficult moments” in its history. I’ve had a lot of deadlines, but if things are going well, you extend them. But Thursday is it,” Trump told Fox News in a radio interview. CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.
In a video address on Friday, Zelensky warned that the U.S. plan would force Ukraine to choose between losing its dignity or a key ally. The 28-point proposal reportedly urges Kyiv to cede some territory, downsize its military, and commit to staying out of NATO concessions long demanded by Moscow.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had received the U.S. plan. He believed it “could form the basis of a final peace settlement. Speaking to Russia’s Security Council, Putin added that Moscow had yet to hold substantive talks with Washington but would “show the flexibility” promised during his August summit with Trump in Alaska.
