President Donald Trump of the United States has stated that he is “not happy” with the fatal Russian strikes on Kyiv and that President Vladimir Putin should “stop”; nevertheless, he has not indicated if future action against Russia would be done.
At least 12 people were murdered in the assaults on the Ukrainian capital overnight into Thursday, while scores more were injured. After the worst strikes Kyiv has witnessed since last July, the US president stated that he is “putting a lot of pressure” on all sides to cease the violence in Ukraine.
It is the most recent setback in attempts to go forward with a peace agreement between the two nations, something the US president claimed he could swiftly accomplish during his campaign last year.
In a rare attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said on Truth Social: “Abysmal timing, and not warranted. “Stop, Vladimir!” President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine are under increasing pressure to agree to the Russian takeover of their land as part of a peace agreement, which coincides with the attack.
Trump stated that he had “no allegiance to anybody” and just “allegiance to saving lives” when he visited the White House on Thursday with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre of Norway. Trump stated that he would wait a week “to see if we have a deal”, but that “things will happen” if the airstrikes continue, even if he acknowledged his dissatisfaction with Putin.
