According to the Pentagon, US forces have hit another ship that is suspected of transporting drugs, this time in Pacific Ocean waters.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said no US personnel were hurt and that two civilians on board the ship were murdered. Hegseth stated that US intelligence was aware of the ship and suspected it was transporting drugs along a well-known trafficking route in international seas. The strike is the first in the Pacific and the seventh US strike against suspected drug boats since September 2.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, “We can do that, and if we do (it) by land, we might go back to Congress.” He claimed that his administration was “totally prepared” to further the escalation by expanding the anti-drug operations on land.
If people want to stop seeing drug boats blow up, stop sending drugs to the United States,” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio added while meeting with Trump in the Oval Office.”Narco-terrorists seeking to bring violence to our beaches will find no safe harbour anywhere in our hemisphere,” Hegseth stated on X. “These cartels are fighting against our border and our people in the same way that Al Qaeda is fighting against our homeland.
