According to a spokeswoman, Harvard University has launched a fresh investigation into the connections between late sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein and former president Larry Summers and other university employees.
The university said it was “conducting a review of information concerning individuals at Harvard included in the newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents” in a statement to The Harvard Crimson.
The announcement comes after Summers previously decided to leave the board of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT. Summers communicated with Epstein up until the day before the financier’s 2019 arrest for alleged child sex trafficking, according to recently made public emails. Summers spoke to students in a Harvard class on Tuesday about his correspondence with Epstein.
I apologize for what I did in my correspondence with Mr. Epstein, as some of you may have read in my statement. According to a student-recorded video, Summers informed his students, “And that I’ve said that I’m going to step back from public activity. I believe that fulfilling my teaching responsibilities is crucial. Thus, with your consent, we will proceed to discuss the subject matter covered in class.
