One of the most well-known conservative activists and media figures in the United States, Charlie Kirk was a reliable supporter of President Donald Trump. Kirk, 31, who passed last Wednesday in what authorities say was a planned shooting at a college event in Utah, was well-known for hosting outdoor discussions to question the opinions of young people on college campuses throughout the nation.
At the age of 18, he helped create Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a student organization that has since grown to hundreds of campuses and propagates conservative ideas at liberal US universities. He gained national recognition for his debates with students on topics including faith, family values, climate change, and transgender identity on social media and his own daily podcast.
The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” President Donald Trump said in a tribute to Kirk’s unexpected passing on Wednesday. Charlie was the best person to understand or own the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America.
The president and his advisors prized Kirk’s political radar for the grassroots side of the MAGA movement for years. In return for Kirk’s speeches at the 2020 and 2024 Republican conventions, Donald Trump delivered a speech at a Turning Point gathering in Arizona last year.
