A tentative agreement to terminate a five-week strike in the St. Louis region has been struck between the Machinists Union and Boeing Defense (BA.N), according to union officials on Wednesday. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers said Friday is the day for a vote on Boeing’s offer of a five-year contract.
According to a statement from Boeing Defense Vice President Dan Gillian, “We’ve found a path forward on a five-year contract offer that grows wages by 45% on average.” “It’s still the finest deal we’ve ever given IAM 837, and we urge our staff to vote in favor so we can resume creating incredible products for our clients.
They simply extended it for another year, without really offering anything more,” said Brandon Thiel, an IAM member who works on the F-15 program.
I have a strong inclination that it will not pass,” Thiel remarked, but he was unsure of his exact vote. He said that growing living expenses had nearly completely negated the raises he has received throughout his seven years at Boeing.
“We simply want to be at ease and without feeling stressed out on a daily basis,” he stated. IAM District 751 members in Washington and Oregon reached a deal with a $12,000 signing bonus and a 38% pay raise after a seven-week strike.
